About the event
On Friday 16 October 2026, England's 2003 Rugby World Cup-winning captain Martin Johnson CBE joined us at Preston Grasshoppers for an evening of rugby stories, laughs and rugby greatness.
Jonno spent 16 seasons at Leicester Tigers, winning every title possible including back-to-back European titles. He made his England debut in 1993 and went on to win 84 caps, 39 of them as captain. A late call-up for the 1993 Lions tour of New Zealand, he was named captain four years later and led the British and Irish Lions to a famous series win over the then world champions, South Africa. In 2001 he became the first man to captain the Lions on two tours, leading them to Australia.
He played at three Rugby World Cups, culminating in the iconic victory over Australia in 2003, and he is still the only Northern Hemisphere captain to lift the Webb Ellis Cup. After retiring he coached England
